Photodeposition of Fe-Based Cocatalysts Capable of Effectively Promoting the Oxygen Evolution Activity of BaTaO2N

Activation of narrow bandgap photocatalysts is a prerequisite for the efficient production renewable hydrogen from water using sunlight. Loading dual cocatalysts intended to promote reduction and oxidation reactions by photodeposition known greatly enhance splitting activity certain oxide photocatalysts. However, it difficult photodeposit oxygen evolution onto oxynitride because driving forces necessary are weak. The present work demonstrates oxidative Fe-based cocatalyst FeOx Mg-doped BaTaO2N photocatalyst having an absorption edge wavelength 620 nm. This modification enhances more effectively than conventional impregnation methods. rapid removal photoexcited electrons (Pt) electron acceptor (molecular oxygen) evidently cocatalyst. A coloaded with Pt exhibits apparent quantum yield 1.2% at 420 nm during reaction in aqueous AgNO3 solution. procedure does not involve any heat treatment so provides new opportunities design construction sites on narrow-bandgap non-oxide that may be prone thermal decomposition.
